Camille Roos is an intuitive painter and public artist whose work tells the story of place. Based in Massachusetts, Camille’s art is the result of immersing herself in conversation with the subtle realm.
Camille was born to a Dutch-Quebecois family of inventors, doctors, sailors, and mystics. She went on to study Tibetan Buddhism, energy medicine, primitive skills, and death-work while mothering two children as a young adult. This unique confluence of interests compelled her to evidence the invisible, with the artist as “medium.”
Camille approaches her work receptively — responding to somatic cues from her body and environment to convey the coarseness, luminescence, or line-work of intangible subjects. Her pieces emerge as dynamic, musical portraits — invoking color, form, and texture as information to attune viewers to their primary, sensory intelligence.
Experiential installations further expand her artistic practice, where Camille creates public sanctuaries for private contemplation using found material.
